Macon, Ga., is known for all kinds of music: gospel, jazz, classical, blues, rhythm and blues, country and Southern rock. Capricorn Records was founded in Macon, and music legends such as Otis Redding, Little Richard, the Allman Brothers and Jason Aldean all have roots in, or connections, to the city. Bragg Jam, Second Sunday, First Friday, the annual Cherry Blossom Festival and The Allman Brothers Band Museum (also known as the Big House) bring local and regional musicians to Macon, while the Macon Pops, Macon Symphony Orchestra, Mercer Universitys Townsend School of Music and the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings offer performances year-round, adding to our rich musical landscape.

Middle Georgia also has a rich offering of arts and other entertainment events, many of which are provided by a variety of higher education institutions. Mercer University, Middle Georgia State University, Georgia College, Georgia Military College and Wesleyan College are located in Middle Georgia and keep downtown Macon and Milledgeville vibrant with their own roster of events for students and the public.

The Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, the Museum of Arts and Sciences and the Tubman (African American) Museum offer programming for all ages. With several local theater companies as well as historic venues such as the Hay House and the Cannonball House, Middle Georgia has events for residents and tourists alike every day of the year.
